The diversity, equality and inclusion coordination committee works to improve and support forces in their 'valuing of difference' and meeting the Public Sector Equality Duty in the regions they serve across the country. Working groups include: hate crime, gender, religion and faith, children and young people, sexual orientation, mental health and human rights.
Action to address findings of first employee-led assessment of workplace culture
Analysis of a survey of more than 34,000 police officers and staff found evidence of inclusive teams and endorsement of efforts to tackle bias, as well as a need to address concerns about career progression and derogatory comments.
Disproportionality in Police Use of Taser: Independent Panel Chair Announced
The National Police Chiefs’ Council Lead for Less Lethal Weapons and the College of Policing have announced Junior Smart OBE as the Panel Chair of an Independent Review into Disproportionate Effects of Use of Taser - a new project set up to identify, understand and tackle the root causes of racial disproportionality in police use of Taser.
