The mission of the Local Policing Coordination Committee is to deliver universal policing services for all and provide the gateway to specialist support. To our communities, local policing is the most visible and recognisable aspect of modern-day policing, and the committee works to keep our communities safe.

The committee is comprised of 11 portfolios, each headed by a chief officer, who actively leads national, regional and local stakeholder engagement and activity to achieve the objectives of the Local Policing Delivery Plan, which are to: 

• Work with National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) portfolios and committees to achieve shared objectives.
• Support forces to make informed decisions around future operational capability.
• Work with partners to improve muti-agency commitment towards diverse community needs.
• Support national programmes and strategies to innovate and improve local policing approaches.
• Represent community policing requirements across government, partners, and stakeholders.
• Provide expert responses, ranging from freedom of information to calls for evidence.
