Operations

Head: Chief Constable Ben-Julian Harrington QPM, Essex Police.

The Operations Coordination Committee oversees a number of key portfolio areas that are concerned with improving the consistency and approach forces use across the country.

Its objectives are:

Co-ordination

• Work together to attract and make best use of investment across portfolios.
• Ensure the Committee is representative and diverse, collating views and coordinating activity from across the service to enable effective delivery on critical business areas.

Collaboration

• Working in consultation with the College of Policing to develop and review National standards and policy, within the Operations Committee business areas.
• Working mutually with counterpart Forces, the National Police Coordination Centre, and the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) in supporting the key National Strategies including the Strategic Policing Requirement, violence against women and girls, the Beating Crime Plan, and the Police Race Action Plan, therefore ensuring that policing has the capability to manage risk and threat and can deliver an appropriate response to this at a national level.

 Communications

• • Raise the profile and influence of the Operations Committee and the Portfolios within it, across the partnership network including the NPCC, the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, and Government.
  • Providing effective communications to counterpart Forces and key stakeholders, providing guidance, and enabling them to deliver on the developments within the Operational Policing portfolio areas.
